Power of the People
In many countries, even where statistically the terrorism threat is rather low, they have implemented a national campaign to report any suspicious activity to local authorities. Everyone heard about certain campaign such as “See Something, Say Something”.
The safety of the people is everyone’s responsibility. Therefore, we should all report any suspicious activity to the local law enforcement. Reporting of suspicious activities is proven to help prevent violent crimes or terrorist attacks. A small link to any suspicious activity can reveal a big terrorist operation.
An awareness campaign can help people to understand the importance of reporting them and how to do so. This can be put in place by local communities and businesses, backed up by the federal government.
Unfortunately, some countries decide not to do so. It shocks me to say that some of these countries are in high need of a system where civilians can communicate efficiently with their law enforcement.
In my opinion, the federal government should invest in these infrastructures and use the power of the people to help them be the eyes on the streets. In sensitive areas, fear of retaliation stops people from reporting but with this reporting system in place, the issue can be addressed immediately.
If you live in one of those countries, do not restrain from reporting. Look up your local law enforcement bureau and save the number in your phone. You never know it might help someday to save lives. Remember, each of us serves something far greater than ourselves.

- Trust your instincts
- If you see anything that looks out of the ordinary, something suspicious, report it!
